Shrewsbury – John passed away on October 19, 2023, after a period of declining health. He was 80 years old.
Born in Fitchburg, MA on February 17, 1943, the son of the late Fred and Kathleen ((Merchant) Harris Jr.
John leaves behind his wife of 30 years Brandy (Cioppa) Harris, daughter Hillary McAlice and her husband James. He also leaves his granddaughter Lilly McAlice, who was the light of his life, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Fred and sister Peggy.
John was educated in Westborough, MA and was a 1961 graduate of Westborough High School.
John worked for Carl Henry Farms during junior high and high school. After graduation, John worked at Bay State Abrasives for a short time. John then worked at several different companies until finally working 20 years in the power equipment industry. John also served on the Shrewsbury Commission on Disabilities for several years. He worked for 22 years at Worcester Area Intergroup until his retirement.
As a 28-year Friend of Bill’s, he helped and inspired a great many people. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, October 29, from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or to a Detox/Rehab of your choice.
