Westborough Connects announces Kindness Week

WESTBOROUGH – Westborough Connects has announced the lineup for this year’s Kindness Week, Nov. 5-11. For information and to sign up for the programs, visit https://www.westboroughconnects.org/

Kindness through Service will return for a second year. Westborough Connects is partnering with the Westborough Senior Center, Veterans Advisory Board, Westborough Food Pantry, the Westborough Little League and Red Barn Coffee Roasters to offer more than 100 opportunities for volunteering and community connection through service.

Sign up before Nov. 3.

The Kickoff to Kindness Week will take place Sunday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the high school. Activities will include an interactive drumming circle and refreshments. The event is free and open to all. If you have leftover Halloween candy, please bring along to donate.

For Saturday, Nov. 11, which is Veterans Day, come to the annual observances at 10:30 a.m. at the Forbes Municipal Building.

Drop off clothing and toys to Helping Hand Relief and Development anytime between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at its location at 45 Oak St.

Week-long activities

Nominate someone who has shown kindness to give them a chance to win one of three kindness-themed @ Home Kits donated by Board & Brush. These kits are also offered for a reduced price. Visit the Westborough Connects site for details on ordering.

Visit the library and add to the Kindness Wall. “Give and Take Kindness Walls” will be at Cha Cha N Beans, Red Barn Coffee Roasters and Tatnuck Booksellers.

First United Methodist Church will hold a sock drive for those experiencing homelessness in Worcester. Bring new men’s white cotton crew socks and leave them in the outreach bin in the atrium; after church hours, leave in the bin outside the door.

Non-perishable donations for the Westborough Food Pantry may be brought to Hiago Gama Jiu Jitsu Academy, Learning Express Toys and the Willows at Westborough.

Westborough Public Schools and the Veterans Advisory Board will collect new or gently used clothing and new toiletries for homeless veterans. Donations may also be dropped off at the library, senior center, and the police and fire stations.

Drop off new and gently used books for children ages 9-12 years to Hygge House Books (there will be a bin outside).

Rebound Physical Therapy will collect new winter hats, mittens/gloves and socks to donate to the Westborough Free Holiday Store.
