Marion C. FalconeShrewsbury – Marion C. (May) Falcone, 91, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 21, after a period of declining health. Marion was the sixth of twenty-two children of John F. and Anna Grace (Kelliher) May of Millbury.

She is survived by her beloved and grief-stricken husband, Louis A. Falcone, Jr., with whom she would have celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary on November 24.  A devoted mother and grandmother, she is also survived by her children and their families:  Ginny; Linda; Cathy Riebesehl and her sons, Nick and his wife Sarah Samel, and Derek; Terri; Sandy Barakian and her husband Mark and their daughters, Samantha and Nicole; Louie and his wife Maureen, and their daughters, Meg and Anna; and Charlie and his wife, Julia.

She is also survived by siblings Betty Coleman, Grace May, Kay Lapointe, Mary Congdon, Marty May, Sheila Courchaine, Barbara Boria, Regina Bleau, Maggie May, and Maureen May Manners, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by siblings Sister Virginia May OSF, Pat Norton, John, Lonny, Billy, Frankie, Howie, Bobby, Kevin, and two infant brothers.

Marion was a 1950 graduate of Millbury High School and worked at Chess King before she and Louie started to raise a family. She later worked at Melville Shoe/Thom McAn from which she retired.

Family was a very important part of Marion’s life, from Sunday dinners of macaroni, meatballs, and gravy (although she was Irish, it was “gravy,” not “sauce”) to the myriad birthdays, anniversaries, special days, and regular days, to the May Family Christmas party.

Marion was a voracious reader until she began losing her vision and became legally blind.  Despite her health challenges, she never complained. When she and Louie could no longer attend Mass in person, they turned to “television church.”

The family would like to thank the staff on 1 West and 2 South at UMass Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care for Marion and their attention and thoughtfulness to the family.

Marion’s funeral Mass was celebrated on November 27 at St. Anne’s Church of Shrewsbury. Burial was held at St. Brigid Cemetery, Millbury.

Mulhane Home for Funerals of Millbury assisted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Anne’s Human Services Food Pantry.
