Janet M. PrunierNorth Grafton – Janet Prunier, 76, of North Grafton, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Janet was predeceased this year by her twin sister, Jeanne Ducasse on June 4, and by her aunt, Gertrude Morin on November 1, both of whom shared Janet’s home.

Janet is survived by two sisters, Marguerite Baril and her husband Ray of Grafton, and Anne-Marie Gonyea with whom she lived; two brothers, Adrien Prunier and his wife Janet of Grafton, and Omer Prunier, Jr. of Auburn; her brother-in-law, Roger Ducasse of Grafton; a dear friend and cousin, Terry Turgeon of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Ellen (Enman) Prunier and by her niece, Suzanne Prunier.

Janet was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Omer and Olive (Gemme) Prunier.  She grew up in Worcester, later moving to Auburn and then Shrewsbury before settling in Grafton in 1991.

Janet was employed for many years at Verizon in Worcester, and was a Union Steward for the I.B.E.W., before she retired. Not one to slow down, she was a poll worker for the Town of Grafton for many years, following her retirement.

She was a life-long member of Saint Joseph Church. Janet was a devout volunteer, serving as a Eucharistic Minister to “shut-ins”, as a member of the Finance Committee, and fought hard to successfully save Saint Joseph’s Church. She would faithfully arrange anniversary Masses at her church for all the deceased of the family. Without faltering, she took on the responsibility for the care of her loved ones, including her mother, her sister Jeanne, her aunt Gert, and her friend Elaine LeClaire.

Janet’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Saint Vincent Hospital for the compassion and commitment to Janet.
