Hudson – Mrs. Jean A. (Flaherty) Flanigan, of Hudson, MA (formerly of Waltham) died unexpectedly on January 1, 2024 in her home. She was 91.

Jean was born in Waltham on January 1, 1933, a daughter of Irish immigrants, Thomas and Mary (Sullivan) Flaherty. She graduated from St. Charles High School in Waltham and later worked for New England Telephone Company.

She was the wife of the late Bernard (Mike) Flanigan who died in 1999 to whom she was married for 44 years.

After Mike’s passing, Jean had a void in her life that she needed to fill. She soon discovered the joy of line dancing. Jean danced for many years at the Barn in West Boylston, Northborough Senior Center, and most recently at Trinity Church in Northborough. Jean danced right up until 90 years young and met many wonderful friends from the dancing community.

Jean is survived by her children Deborah Ahearn and husband Mark of Hudson, Neil and wife Maureen of Ashland, Daniel of Hudson, Joseph and his wife Melissa of Hudson, and Steven and partner Jaime Kenney of Andover.

Jean was predeceased by her daughter Kathy. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jean’s life by gathering for visitation at Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 8:30 AM before leaving in procession to St. Michael’s Church, 23 Manning Street, Hudson where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael’s Church or the Hudson Senior Center.
