Shrewsbury – Patricia M. (Dodge) Szlyk, 76, of Southgate in Shrewsbury and formerly of Northborough, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Her husband of 34 years, Robert A. Szlyk, died in 2017.
She leaves her nephew John M. Dodge; her niece Carol (Dodge) Baker; her sister-in-law Nancy A. Dodge; cousins and friends. She was also predeceased by her brother James L. Dodge Jr.
Patricia was born in Worcester to James L. and Cecelia T. (Maloney) Dodge. She graduated from St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School in 1965. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education in 1970 and her master’s degree in 1973 both at Worcester State University.
Pat worked as an elementary school teacher and a Title I reading teacher for 34 years in the Worcester Public Schools system.
She was a member of the Educational Association of Worcester, the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association.
She was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, the St. Rose of Lima Women’s Club and the St. Rose of Lima Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Pat’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting and many various crafts.
Pat and Bob both travelled extensively for many years and enjoyed their retirement with time spent in their summer home in Monument Beach.
There will be a calling hour Saturday, February 3, at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West St., Northborough. The funeral Mass will follow in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
