Joan M. LaurenceMirror Lake, NH/Northborough – Joan Maureen (Dennehy) Laurence, age 82, of Mirror Lake, New Hampshire, formerly of Northborough, Massachusetts, passed away in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

Joan was born on June 8, 1941 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Paul and Thelma Dennehy, the youngest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Francis Laurence.

Joan is survived by her three sons, James (Karen), Andrew (Lisa), and David; and her ten grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Tripper, Tucker, Teagan, Trina, Tommy, Tyler, Drew, and Sophie. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Dianne Michelle Laurence Saitta (Paul).

Joan was a remarkable woman whose zest for life, love of others, and delighted laughter touched the lives of all who knew her. She threw herself into everything she did – skiing, traveling, raising a family, operating her business (Country Candle), and in later years being “Nani” to her ten beloved grandchildren. She was an incredible source of strength and inspiration to family and friends near and far and taught by example to love unconditionally and live this life wholeheartedly.

Joan and her beloved husband Jim shared many passions, from dancing to traveling, and were always seeking new adventures together. Their greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, graciously opening their homes and hearts to all, welcoming each new guest as a cherished friend.

Joan leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and a treasure trove of cherished memories and “Nani stories” that will always be held close to our hearts. Though she may no longer be with us physically, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life Service for her will take place on February 8th at 6 p.m. at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St, Northborough, MA. Visiting hours will be held beforehand from 4-6 pm. Burial will take place at a later date in New Canaan, Connecticut.
