Robert M. SjogrenGrafton – Robert M. “Bob” Sjogren, 87, passed away February 21, 2024 following an illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn (Bessom) Sjogren, his children Michael Sjogren and his wife Linda, Jerry Sjogren and his wife Nancy, Diane Coz, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Kenneth in 2010.

Bob was born December 8, 1936 in Manistique, MI, son of Goldie (Byers) and Jonas Sjogren. His birth mother Pearl Whitman was also close to the Sjogren family throughout his life.

Bob grew up in a cabin in Michigan. His work ethic was instilled at a very young age, as he found work outdoors and with his strong hands even as a boy. He enlisted in the United States Navy serving during the Korean conflict. He found work as a welder in his younger days following the war before he eventually found his way to UMass Lowell where he earned his Associate’s degree. He began a lengthy career in nuclear power with Yankee Atomic Electric where he eventually earned the title of Head Design Engineer where he worked for many years until his retirement.

Bob’s background and skills also led him to designing and building homes in the Grafton area where he and Carolyn settled and raised their family, spending many happy years together with their family. He was a Senior Warden at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, was a dedicated citizen in Grafton serving on its Planning Board and also made contributions to his community as a Shriner and member of the Silom Masonic Lodge in Westborough.

Away from work and service to his neighbors Bob prized time with family and looked forward to time at the family vacation home in New Hampshire, where projects often took priority over rest as he was always tinkering.

At his request funeral services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers please remember Bob with a donation to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital at http://www.shrinerschildrens.org.

A Book of Memories to share a special message with his family is available at www.RoneyFuneralHome.com.
