Elnora TorresTolland, CT – Elnora Torres, a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2024.

Born on March 7, 1937 to Paul and Gertrude (DeCamp) Wentworth, Elnora grew up in Vermont. It was there that she learned the importance of family and the value of hard work and perseverance with her sister and three brothers.

She married Victor Torres on Valentine’s Day, and they celebrated over 65 years together while raising four children. She cherished her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately called her “Memère.”

Elnora found much joy in the simple moments spent with her friends and family, whether it was gathering for holidays, parties, cheering at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, or celebrating life’s milestones. She took immense pride in supporting her family and rejoicing in their achievements.

A skilled knitter and crocheter, Elnora’s talents shone through in the beautiful blankets, baby sweaters and special clothes she lovingly crafted for each new addition to the family. These blankets serve as tangible reminders of her love and craftsmanship, cherished by those who received them.

In addition to her role within her family, Elnora operated a childcare service for many years, where she provided a safe and nurturing environment for the children in her care.

Elnora loved playing bingo and visiting the casinos to try her luck at the slot machines. She also enjoyed attending theater performances, playing cards, reading, watching talent shows on TV, and cheering on her Boston sports teams.

Elnora is survived by her husband, Victor Torres, her brothers, Francis (Mary) Rauh and George (Tina) Rauh, as well as her children and their spouses: William & Janet Parks, Tom & Cheryl Parks, Gary & Lisa Parks, and Victoria & John Sharon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jaclyn, Brandon, Tiffanie, Thomas Jr., Derek, Jennifer, Jeff, Michael, Lindsay, Jessica and Amaria.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clifford Wentworth, sister Linda Burelle, and daughter-in-law Sharon Parks.

A memorial service to honor Elnora’s life will be held on Saturday. April 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland CT 06084.

A Celebration of Life event is planned for this coming summer.
