Marlborough – Charles R. (Skip) Doucette of Marlborough, formerly of Newton, died at home, on April 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health.

He was the husband of Barbara A. (McGuire) Doucette. Born in Newton, MA, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Rita (Allen) Doucette. He graduated from Newton North High School in 1962.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise and he was a Newton Police Officer who retired with 34 years of service. He was a DAV of the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Newton 167, French Club of Newton and belonged to the VFW of Newton Fire and Police.

Skip very much enjoyed his family and friends and spent much of the summer months in his yard tending to his lawn, flowers, and vegetable garden. He was an avid reader, enjoyed walks on Old Orchard Beach, and listening to the “oldies”, while washing his truck and having a cold Miller High Life.

Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by his 4 children, Michelle Stearns of Texas, Bob Doucette of Marlborough, Danielle Horton and her husband Todd of Lakeville, and Suzanne Badavas and her husband Bill of Marlborough. He is survived by his 6 grandchildren, Bailey, Tyler, Cambrie, Jack, Will and Elise, 2 great grandchildren, Jace and Gage, and his sister Sheila Ciccaglione of Arizona along with many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 2-4 PM in the Short and Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main Street, Marlborough, MA.

A Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough, at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
