Marlborough – Rose C. (Lombardo) Shearer, 95, died peacefully Sunday morning Aug. 14, 2011. She was the wife of the late Dalton Shearer, who died in 1953.

Born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Vincent and Antonia (Aquilla) Lombardo, she lived in the city most of her life.

Mrs. Shearer was employed for many years at the former Golden's Department Store. She was a member of the former St. Ann's Parish, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Holy Rosary Sodality, and was a longtime member of the choir. She was also a member of the former Amista Concordia Lodge, Daughters of Italy in Marlborough.

She is survived by two sisters, Sabina Palange of Marlborough and Camilla Quatrale of Fitchburg, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Samuel, and two sisters, Antoinette Gucciardi and Santa Albertini.

Her funeral will be held Friday Aug. 19, at 11 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. At her request there will be no visiting hours.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
