Westborough – The Knights of Columbus (KOC) will be hosting their 27th annual Basketball Free Throw Competition Monday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Mill Pond School gymnasium. The free event is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14.
Following the competition, trophies and certificates will be awarded to the highest free-throw baskets made in each age and gender category.
According to Herman Millet, KOC member, “All of the Westborough winners are invited to compete at the district level, then they can proceed to central regionals and the state finals which are usually held in April.”
Past Grand Knight Jim O”Connor is the chair of the competition and has led the KOC Youth Programs for several years.
“Over the years we have had winners through all levels,” said Millet, “including the state level. I also remember having a national winner one year.”
Participants may register from 6 to 7 p.m. the night of the event or ahead of time by downloading forms from the Knights of Columbus website. For more information, call Jim O”Connor at 508- 836-4690
