Rotary Club to hold virtual trivia contest in lieu of annual Applefest Street FairNorthborough – The Rotary Club of Northborough has announced that the annual Applefest Street Fair will not take place this year as a result of the pandemic. The organization explored many alternative plans, but none would allow for a safe, in-person event.

In its place, the Rotary Club has come up with a way to celebrate the community virtually with the 2020 Rotary Applefest Virtual Street Fair Trivia Competition.

Teams can represent town organizations, businesses, schools and families and be made up of no more than 10 devices. Questions will include local town trivia, history, geography, sports, TV and movies.

The competitions will be shown on local cable TV.

Two runoff competitions will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. The final competition will take place Saturday, Sept. 26.

The suggested entry fee is a $20 donation per participant. Money raised is donated by the Rotary Club back into the community, supporting its Nutrition 68 program, the Northborough Food pantry, and the Community Meals, among others, as well as international projects such as Shelter Box and Partners In Health, and Tree of Hope Haiti
