Lynn M. Kelly, 73, of Marlborough

Lynn M. KellyMarlborough – Lynn M. (Martin) Kelly, 73, of Marlborough and formerly of Noank, Conn., died suddenly at Marlborough Hospital on May 31, 2021. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Kelly Jr., who died in 2007.

She was born, raised, and educated in Greenwich, Conn., the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Kelly) Martin, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Lynn received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Manhattanville College and a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from University of Connecticut.

She spent many years raising her daughter, working for the late author Peter Wyden, and working as a long-term substitute in the Groton, Conn. public schools. More recently, Lynn worked for 13 years at Mitchell College in New London as a Learning Specialist before retiring.

In 2018, she moved to Marlborough to live across the street from her daughter, son-in-law, and two beloved grandchildren whom she spent nearly every day with. She loved people and animals including her own cats and “grand kitties and grand puppies.” She was always helping others and was thought of as a second mom to so many. She loved nothing more than playing with her grandchildren and watching them play with all of the neighborhood children in her yard.

Lynn leaves her daughter, Shannon Kelly Blair and her husband Jacob of Marlborough; two grandchildren, Bobby and Nora Blair, also both of Marlborough; a sister, Nancy Martin-Mathewson and her husband Art of New Lisbon; a nephew, Owen Mathewson, and niece, Julia Nadeau and her husband Brian, all of New Lisbon; and many other close family and friends throughout the United States and England.

A Celebration of Lynn’s Life will be held in July with details to follow. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Emily’s List or CarMaH Cat Rescue of Marlborough and Hudson.

All are invited to sign Lynn’s online guestbook at www.collinsfuneral.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough.
