WESTBOROUGH – Downed wires drew an emergency response in Westborough on Thursday afternoon, sparking a small fire and knocking out power to the surrounding area, according to the Westborough Fire Department.

Crews were on scene around 7:30 p.m. on Mount Pleasant Street, which runs between Upton Road and Ruggles Street near Fales Elementary School.

There, a photo showed a fire in grass near the side of the road sending white smoke into the air.

National Grid had been notified as of 7:22 p.m., according to the fire department.

Fire crews estimated a two to three hour delay to restore power.
