Antonio J. Barcinas, 66, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Antonio Jabines Barcinas, at 66 years old, passed away peacefully last Thursday, the 16th of February at his family’s home in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Antonio or Toeknee or Toti as we would fondly call him was born in Manila Philippines, and the 3rd son out of nine, of Niceas and Teresita Barcinas. He is survived by his son Vicente Antonio, his siblings Carlos Fidencio, Fulgencio, Susan Jane, Alex, John Francis, Leila Corazon Siniawski, Maria Fe Naff and the many nieces and nephews. He joined his Creator along with his brother Alfonso Mauro who died earlier.

Toeknee graduated from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering allowing him to work for the longest time at Al Jubail – Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed), one of the largest steel manufacturing and processing operations in Saudi Arabia at that time. He sacrificed many years working in Saudi Arabia as a chemical engineer to provide a comfortable life for his family.

He eventually immigrated to the United States in 2002 along with his family, initially first settling at New Jersey and finally in Marlborough MA where he further expanded his network of friends in Market Basket, Target, and the Senior Center in Town. As people can tell, family meant everything to him first and foremost, but a lot of people will forever remember him for his goofy sense of humor, and a love of entertaining us by singing and dancing to Frank Sinatra songs, etc. He had a generous kind soul and a sense of childlike spirit about him.

He built many friendships either at work or visiting other towns to play chess, table tennis and other board games. He loved visiting gourmet restaurants to try out new menu creations, not only to satisfy his appetite but to share it with his friends. As always he loved family gatherings, spending fun time with family, relatives and friends especially those from the Philippines and New Jersey.

Toti, you will forever be missed!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass in his honor this Friday, the 24th of February at 10:00 AM at St. Matthias Parish Church, 409 Hemenway Street, Marlborough MA 01752.

The Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough assisted with arrangements.
