Marlborough – At its May 19 meeting, the City Council unanimously approved an application for a site plan permit requested by CSM Corporation to build a new Hilton Garden Inn at 170 Forest St. On the recommendation of the Urban Affairs Committee, councilors accepted amendments to the plan, defining conditions for the land owned by Atlantic-Marlborough Realty.
Among conditions noted in the plan permit for the building in the Results Way Mixed Use Overlay District is holding a preconstruction meeting at the site with the city engineer, conservation officer and site contractor responsible for doing the work. At this meeting department heads will review plans and conditions, exchange contact information, and inspect erosion controls.
Also required is the site contractor providing Police Chief Mark Leonard a map showing the defined haul routes for the large amounts of materials to be removed from the site. He will determine whether restrictions will be placed on the plan.
In other business, councilors approved a $6,000 grant from the Ezra M. Cutting Trust to support the city's partnership with the River Edge Arts Alliance. The group supports performances that are part of the city's “Family Fun Festivals.”
