Grafton – On the evening of July 22, Grafton’s Concerts on the Commons featured the band “Throw Back to the 60s,” an enthusiastic group of ‘60s-era musicians playing favorites from that time period. A typically large crowd gathered, covering the Commons with blankets, bridge chairs and tables, thermos jugs, sandwiches, candy, and other treats. Many stood and rocked along with the music, to the delight of adults and children alike. Kids ran to and fro, laughing and having a great time.
The Concert on the Commons is a Grafton summer tradition and has hosted many local and military bands. The Commons has been featured in many TV commercials and shows. The iconic gazebo located there was built by the producers of the Mickey Rooney movie, “Ah, Wilderness!” which was filmed in Grafton in 1935.
Grafton Community Television will be broadcasting the concerts throughout the summer. Schedules can be found on the GCTV website www.graftontv.org. The Concert on The Common Series will also be available at the GCTV VOD link, www.graftontv.org/current/VoD.html.
