Northborough – Krish Satishkumar, a 10-year-old student at the Marion E. Zeh School, loves to read. The avid sports fan also loves the Boston Bruins. Those two passions came together for him in a happy way when he found out his prize for participating in a state-wide public library reading program was an official Bruins jersey that was signed by the whole team.
Each summer, the Bruins donate prizes to inspire children across the state to participate in a Summer Reading Program, according to Katrina Ireland, children’s librarian at the Northborough Free Library. Libraries across the state were then asked to submit the names of top readers in three categories for a raffle drawing for several Bruins-donated prizes.
Krish had devoted 120 hours over the summer to reading, something that was easy to do, he said, as it was fun for him.
“Krish did a great job,” Ireland said. “We’re very proud of him.”
