Miles, smiles and high heels for Michaella

Hudson – About 175 friends, relatives and supportive townspeople gathered Oct. 26 to remember Michaella Libby, a 2010 Hudson High School (HHS) graduate who died in January 2012 at age 20. The occasion was the second annual Miles and Smiles for Michaella, a three-mile walk beginning and ending at Morgan Bowl. While a sophomore at the University of Maryland majoring in public health, she tutored inner-city children in Washington, D.C., and volunteered for Students Helping Honduras.

Award-winning Hudson native thrives in his musical journey

Hudson – Hudson native Jason Paulino, now of Clinton, developed an interest in music as a child growing up in the 1980s. Concurrently, his relatives shared with him their admiration for the rock band Journey and its frontman Steve Perry. Shrewsbury – For years, Anthony “Spag” Borgatti oversaw his legendary retail establishment located on Route 9, not far from Lake Quinsigamond and the Worcester border. Known for his great deals as well as his dedication to Shrewsbury and its residents, Borgatti was beloved by all and to this day, casts a very long shadow. But after in the years following his death, the once bustling commercial site saw a series of retailers come and go, each hoping for just a small slice of Spag’s success. Sadly, during recent years, the nearly 23 acre parcel sat dormant, waiting for its next chapter.

Edgemere Drive-in on course for 2018 redevelopment

Shrewsbury – Recent speculation that the Market Basket redevelopment project of the Edgemere Drive-in, located on Route 20 in Shrewsbury, is going to happen sooner rather than later and without the public’s input, has some folks on “edge”. The Market Basket supermarket is the proposed anchor of a 120,000 square-foot mixed-use, retail and residential project to be located on Hartford Turnpike.  Kristen D. Las, Shrewsbury’s assistant town manager and economic development coordinator, recently shared an update on the project.

Mayuri Indian Cuisine: New Westborough restaurant offers extensive lunch buffet

Westborough - Mayuri Indian Cuisine brings the dishes of both northern and southern India - with a touch of Indo-Chinese as well - to Westborough. Sailaja Vavilla, Mayuri's owner, opened the restaurant with her husband, Ramana Vavilla, at the end of April. Ramana is the chef, bringing 20 years of experience to this new venture. The Vavillas are partners in two other Indian restaurants in the Boston area.
