Shrewsbury - Saint Mary School, located at 16 Summer St., in Shrewsbury, will host their annual Holly Fair Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Stop by to shop for gifts and handmade crafts from a variety of new vendors, fresh wreaths, greens and cemetery boxes from Danielson Flowers and so much more.

Shrewsbury – Members of the Shrewsbury Rotary Club as well as noted residents fanned out among Shrewsbury’s four elementary schools - Walter J. Paton, Spring Street, Floral Street and Coolidge - to read to second-grade classrooms Nov. 6.

Shrewsbury – The Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library will hold its annual Holiday Open House Saturday, Dec. 2, from 12 to 2:30 p.m., at the library, 609 Main St. This perennial holiday favorite features fun for all ages, including crafts, games, stories, refreshments and a special visit from Santa. This event is free and open to the public.

Southborough - St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main St., Southborough, is hosting its annual Christmas Bazaar Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Start your holiday season with a visit to the crafts, bake shop, and silent auction tables with many kinds of holiday treats. 

Region – State Senator Michael Moore (D-Millbury) and the Humane Society of the U.S. State Director Stephanie Harris will speak about how you can turn your compassion for animals into effective action. “Paws and Policy: Turning Compassion into Action” will be held Monday, Nov. 27, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Mass Audubon’s Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary, 414 Massasoit Road, Worcester.

Westborough – Lots of laughs were shared when milestone anniversaries were celebrated Nov. 6 at the DoubleTree by Hilton. While marking its 20th year, the Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) presented its 10th annual Trivia Bee. WEF’s primary fundraiser helped provide $21,170 in grants in this 2017-2018 school year and over $375,000 throughout two decades.

Marlborough – At the Raymond C. Richer Elementary School Science Fair Nov. 2, groups of students swarmed around various tables, such as “Make Red Slime,” “Smell a Station,” and “Extract Strawberry DNA” to figure out the “how-tos” presented at the individual stations. Not only did elementary students exhibit active inquiry skills and problem-solving, so did their younger and older siblings as well as parents and grandparents who joined them at this annual event.

Westborough - The Westborough Historical Society is collecting donations for its Holiday Boutique Sale. Holiday-themed items, jewelry, and other collectibles may be dropped off between 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the society's headquarters, Sibley House, 13 Parkman St. To arrange for your donations to be picked up, call Society President Cary Mulrain at 508-366-0975.

Hudson - The Hudson Historical Society will present “John and Abigail Adams: An American Story” by Professor Gary Hylander at the First Federated Church Hall, 200 Central St., Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m.

Northborough – Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.” The students who belong to the Interact Club of Northborough-Southborough understand that philosophy. Not only do they understand it, they embrace it while making a positive difference in their community.

Region - Business leader Ann R. Klee spoke to a crowded room at the Boston Marriott Newton as keynote speaker for the Foundation for MetroWest’s sixth Community Leadership Breakfast, “Business Leaders and Community Philanthropy: An Essential Partnership,” Oct. 27.

Northborough – Northborough veterans were showered with appreciation at the eighth annual Veteran’s Day Luncheon Nov. 3 at the Northborough Senior Center. Senior Center Director Kelly Burke welcomed attendees who enjoyed a program filled with patriotic music and heartfelt presentations. The sun shone bright on the occasion and attendance was high for this mid-day event.

Grafton - Grafton High School theatre will perform “Charlotte’s Web” the weekend of Nov. 17-19 at the school, 69 Brigham St.

Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury’s Rotary and Lions clubs teamed up for the second year to collect toiletries for Veterans, Inc. This year, they were stationed at Price Chopper in Shrewsbury Nov. 4 and collected well over four grocery carts full of soap, hand cream, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hair brushes and socks.

Northborough – Songs, poetry and patriotism were elements of a special event hosted by students from St. Bernadette School in Northborough who invited local veterans, parishioners, parents and friends to join them in honoring veterans at their annual Veterans Day Program Nov. 9. The program was delivered with a lesson as well, a lesson in the importance of honoring those who have served “to protect and preserve our God-given freedoms.”

Hudson – On a cold Nov. 11 morning, parade participants and spectators in downtown Hudson thanked military veterans for their service.

Westborough – Several dozen people followed a caravan of buses and military vehicles past Westborough’s war memorials in a series of ceremonies honoring veterans Nov 11.

Southborough – Fay School will present the “Awesome Pirate Show” Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 - 11 a.m. Captain Robbie Bones will bring his treasure chest full of magic tricks and juggling apparatus. Registration opens Thursday, Nov. 2.

Shrewsbury – A Country Western Night will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Scandinavian Athletic Club Park, 438 Lake St. in Shrewsbury. Organizing the event is Vikki Crowley of Marlborough, a four-time cancer survivor. Proceeds will benefit the 20-mile Just ‘Cause 2018 Cancer Walk.
