Education foundation, trivia bee celebrate milestones

Westborough – Lots of laughs were shared when milestone anniversaries were celebrated Nov. 6 at the DoubleTree by Hilton. While marking its 20th year, the Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) presented its 10th annual Trivia Bee. WEF’s primary fundraiser helped provide $21,170 in grants in this 2017-2018 school year and over $375,000 throughout two decades.

Richer School Science Fair sparks intergenerational curiosity and problem-solving

Marlborough – At the Raymond C. Richer Elementary School Science Fair Nov. 2, groups of students swarmed around various tables, such as “Make Red Slime,” “Smell a Station,” and “Extract Strawberry DNA” to figure out the “how-tos” presented at the individual stations. Not only did elementary students exhibit active inquiry skills and problem-solving, so did their younger and older siblings as well as parents and grandparents who joined them at this annual event.

Senior Center Director Kelly Burke welcomed attendees who enjoyed a program filled with patriotic music and heartfelt presentations. Shrewsbury groups collect items for veterans

Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury’s Rotary and Lions clubs teamed up for the second year to collect toiletries for Veterans, Inc. This year, they were stationed at Price Chopper in Shrewsbury Nov. 4 and collected well over four grocery carts full of soap, hand cream, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hair brushes and socks.

St. Bernadette School brings generations together to honor veterans

Northborough – Songs, poetry and patriotism were elements of a special event hosted by students from St. Bernadette School in Northborough who invited local veterans, parishioners, parents and friends to join them in honoring veterans at their annual Veterans Day Program Nov. 9. The program was delivered with a lesson as well, a lesson in the importance of honoring those who have served “to protect and preserve our God-given freedoms.”
