Modern Dentistry to offer free dental clinic for veterans

Shrewsbury – As a way to thank local veterans, Modern Dentistry of Shrewsbury is proud to announce that it will be hosting a free Dental Day for veterans on Saturday, Nov. 12. The clinic will be overseen by Dr. Mehdi Karimipour (known as Dr. Mehdi) and his wife, Dr. YiChen (Jenn) Wei, who both joined Modern Dentistry and Dr. Todd Pizzi this past summer. Both doctors have extensive experience and years of dental specialty training. In addition, Dr. Mehdi has trained at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., which has given him an intimate perspective on the needs of those who have served in the military.

Westborough – Like many girls her age, 13-year-old Melissa Shang, an eighth grade student at the Sarah W. Gibbons Middle School, has a busy life. Her days are filled with school work, creating stop-motion films, singing in her school choir, and enjoying time with her family and friends. She is also, she admits, “sassy” a lot of the time. But there is also another side to this young girl – she is a passionate advocate for those with disabilities.

Algonquin football suffers first loss of the season

Dudley - The visiting Algonquin Regional Tomahawks football team fell to the Shepherd Hill Regional Rams by a score of 31-0 in a game played Sept. 30. This was the first loss of the season for Algonquin, and the first in their past eight contests, going back to last season. Overshadowing the game itself was the story surrounding Shepherd Hill’s Kevin Mensah, playing in his first home game of the season. Mensah is a strong prospect to play Division 1 college football next year.
