Shrewsbury High School, SHARC offer “Get Fit Adventures”

Shrewsbury – As Shrewsbury High School's (SHS) “Get Fit Adventures” continue, Shrewsbury Health and Racquet Club (SHARC) participated in the “Fall into Fitness” event Oct. 13.

SHS students, families and staff joined the SHARC group exercise instructors for a series of 30-minute active demonstrations. The SHARC instructors promised to get participants moving and to elevate their heart rates, while demonstrating: Body Combat, African Safari Dance, Boot Camp Drills and Zumba.

According to SHS physical education teacher Paula Toti was impressed by the event.

“It was a great success,” she said. “Everyone was involved for the full two hours and responded with great comments about the classes. Their individual fitness levels were certainly challenged.”

SHARC Owner/President Darline Yatim was pleased to have SHARC provide the demonstrations.

“Our participation in events like Fall into Fitness are at the core of what SHARC offers to our local schools,” she said. “SHARC is committed to providing a variety of programs and demonstrations that promote active, healthy lifestyles for our children, their families, and the teachers and staff in Shrewsbury Public Schools.”

This Fall into Fitness event was made possible thanks to resources from the Carole M. White PEP (Physical Education Program) Grant and the support of Patricia Degon, the Get Fit Adventure Program director and director of physical education, health and family consumer science.

There will be future events at SHS as part of the Get Fit Adventure.
