Shrewsbury girls field hockey falls to Acton-Boxborough

Worcester – The Acton-Boxborough Regional High School (AB) girls field hockey team ?defeated Shrewsbury High School (SHS) earlier today to claim the state title in action at Worcester State College.

Shrewsbury, the Central Mass. Division 1 champions, had defeated Longmeadow to earn a state final berth against AB. SHS held their own for the better part of the first half, but AB struck at the 5:11 mark with a goal by Colleen Fowler. ?AB's Eleni Neyland scored again for a 2-0 lead at the 2:59 mark with an assist by Eleana Cardarelli.

In the second half SHS came out strong but a second goal by AB's Fowler (with a second assist by Cardarelli) sealed SHS's fate and they fell to AB 3-0.
