Spring/summer clothes swap to be held in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – Kids grow out of their clothes almost as fast as the clocks change back and forth to daylight savings time. For years parents have been passing down gently used clothing to siblings or friends or selling and buying at garage sales.

‘Evening of Giving’ raises $32,000 for Marlborough shelter

Marlborough – Friends of Roland’s House, men and women committed to preventing homeless people from living on the street, gathered at the restaurant Chez Siam recently to hear about the success of the 23rd Evening of Giving. The fundraiser has become a beloved annual tradition for the communities of Marlborough and Hudson.

WCLT announces Earth Day Essay Contest

Zeh nurse makes ‘purple’ promise

Northborough – The Marion E. Zeh School has been raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) for nine years. To date, students have collected over $17,000 for the “Pennies for Patients” campaign, which aims to involve kids by teaching them about community and helping others by joining in the fight against blood cancers. The service learning, character education and philanthropy program asks students to collect spare change over a three-week period. Campaign dates for Zeh were Jan. 28 to Feb. 22.

Northborough/Southborough – Under the direction of math teacher Eileen Palmer and guidance counselor Jason Lessard, Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) Community Action Program (CAP) students have spent the last month holding technology seminars for seniors at both the Southborough Senior Center and the Northborough Senior Center. The tech-savvy teens have made great strides in closing any technology generation gaps, showing seniors easy ways to mute their phones, text, change ring tones, take pictures or download a book on a Kindle.
