Marlborough-Graduating Marlborough High School senior Nicole Katherine Archibald has enrolled in the United States Air Force Aerospace Medical Service program. She is the daughter of Rich and Darlene Archibald of Marlborough.

On June 25, Archibald will head to San Antonio, Texas, for eight and a half weeks of basic training, before beginning 24 weeks of technical training in the Aerospace Medical Service program. There she will learn the skills necessary to assist doctors and care for patients – from administering medication and taking vital signs to assisting with newborn deliveries and emergency medicine. Once she has completed the program, Archibald will be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

As an LPN, Archibald will spend four years working for the Air Force while, at the same time, continuing the education necessary to reach her goal of Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA), working in pediatric oncology.

Following four years of active duty, Archibald will serve four years in the Air Force Reserve.

For Archibald, the decision to join the USAF was a perfect way to combine her desire to pursue a medical career and her love of country.

“I love a challenge and think this is going to put me where I need to be with schooling, discipline and my future,” she said.

The four-year honor student, athlete and Boston Children's Hospital volunteer said she is looking forward to this next adventure in her life.
