For the “health” of it

060713 rsNorthborough – In Northborough, residents don's just “talk the talk” when it comes to healthy living, they “walk the walk” – literally. They also bike, hike, garden and focus on healthy living, thanks to a program called “Healthy Northborough. ”

Started in 2008, the program aims to get residents exercising and eating a healthier diet. Recently the town received a grant for the fourth time from Mass in Motion, a program run by the Mass. Department of Public Health, to support those initiatives.

Those efforts are paying off, officials said. Kids are eating healthier lunches at school, community gardens are flourishing, and the town's trail systems are very popular. Even many of the local restaurants are getting into the act by offering healthier options.
