Marlborough – David C. Mauro, 74, of Marlborough, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Marlborough and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Carmella (Amatucci) Mauro and the husband of MaryAnn (Masciarelli) Mauro of Marlborough.
Mr. Mauro, owner of Construction Materials Service (CMS) in Marlborough, was fortunate to be able to turn a much-loved interest for trucks into a lifelong career. He purchased his first truck in 1959, and, through the years, it has evolved from sand and gravel operations into the present time as a site excavating company.
He had a talent for restoring trucks to their original condition, for which he was known worldwide. As the Past President of the Antique Truck Club of New England, he was the principal organizer of the Antique Truck Club show in Hudson for many years. He traveled throughout the country with his family in tow, attending truck shows for over 30 years. He could often be found loading materials at his South Street garage and, during his illness, riding with his son Patrick.
He also served as Past President of the Marlborough Lions Club, where he was active from the 1970s through 1980s and was a longtime faithful member of St. Matthias Parish, Marlborough.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Patrick and his wife Dolores of Marlborough; his daughters, Donna Kott and her husband Kenneth of Marlton, N.J., Linda Ficaro and her husband James of Berlin, and Julie Barrett and her husband David of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Katelyn Mauro, Nathaniel and Samuel Kott, Christina and Joseph Ficaro and Brett, Luke and Grace Barrett; his sisters, Patricia Murphy and Ann Marie Ebert, both of Marlborough; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 25 at St. Matthias, with burial at the Rural Cemetery of Southborough. The Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough assisted with arrangements.
