Earth Day Essay: An Environmental Issue in Westborough

Having grown up and spent my entire life in Westborough, I am filled with many mixed emotions as I anticipate my departure from my home town. I am excited, nervous, and full of anxious anticipation and a bit of trepidation as I find myself heading off to college. I will miss many things about Westborough.

City employee retires after 53 years of service

Marlborough – In 1960, when Regina Cahill accepted a position of clerk in the Marlborough tax collector's office she did not expect to continue in City Hall until 2013 – almost 53 years later. After three years in her original post, she moved across the hall to the Assessor's Office and remained there until May when she retired.

“I started as a junior clerk, and then continued to senior clerk, principal clerk to the head clerk position where I stayed until I decided to leave,” she said. “I loved my job and especially the people. I will miss everyone.”

Forum on new Senior Center draws crowd

Marlborough – Over 200 city residents gathered for a public forum at the city's current senior center June 26 to discuss a proposed new center that would be built at Ward Park. The proposal to build a new center at that location has been met with approval by many of the city's residents who feel the current location at 240 Main St. does not adequately service the needs of the city's senior citizens. But the plan has also been vehemently opposed by a number of citizens, especially members of the Ward Park Neighborhood Association.
