Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Lebanon, N.H. – Joseph F. Harrity, 69, of Lebanon, N.H., formerly of Hudson, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Annette G. Kelley of Lebanon, N.H.

Joseph was born in Clinton, son of the late Richard T. and Catherine T. (Murphy) Harrity. He was raised in Hudson, where he attended local schools, was a 1964 graduate of Hudson Catholic High School, and attended Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

Joseph worked for many years at the family business, the Harrity Company in Hudson. He was a longtime resident of Hudson and had resided in Lebanon, N.H. the past 13 years. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Parish in White River Junction, Vt.

Joseph’s passion was his family and Irish heritage. He was a proud Irishman who loved the Irish culture and even took courses to learn the very difficult Old Irish Celtic language. He was an avid hockey fan, and always looked forward to taking his nephew, Brendan, whom he helped raise and loved as a son, to his many hockey events. His loving spirit will be truly missed.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tracey M. Chase and her husband Timothy and his loving grandson Garrett T. Chase all of Leominster; his nephew whom he loved as a son, Brendan J. Kelley of Lebanon; and his step-children, Jahnnie Ard-O’Connor, Freddie Ard, and Anneliese Ard. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary D. Stapelfeld and her husband John of Hudson, Francis P. Harrity and his wife Kathleen of Hudson, Richard T. Harrity and his wife Mary of Hudson, and Kathleen Harrity and her companion Steven Salerno of Dallas, Pa., along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m., in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held Friday, Feb. 12, from 6-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to St. Anna Catholic School, 213 Lancaster St., Leominster, MA 01453.
