Obit Dorothy K. VinalMarlborough – Dorothy K. (McPherson) Vinal, 91, of Marlborough, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.

Born in Stoughton, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Clara (Kempf) McPherson and the wife of the late Alden Charles Reynolds who died in 2010. She had also been the wife of the late Stephen Henry Vinal, who died in 1973.

She was the devoted mother of Marcia J. Gannon and her partner Fred Haskell of Marlborough and Susan L. Corriher and her husband Harvey Corriher of Charlotte, N.C.; grandmother of John S. Gannon and his wife Sarah and Scott J. Gannon and his partner Becca Keane; and the loving sister of Carol Mitz of Tallahassee, Fla. She was the sister of the late Harold McPherson, formerly of Raynham.

After many years of service with the City of Quincy as Secretary to the Health Commissioner, Dorothy retired to Falmouth with her husband Alden. They were avid ballroom dancers and shared their love of dancing with their friends. They also enjoyed flower gardening, particularly cultivating rhododendrons; walking, bird watching, and visiting old Silver Beach. They maintained a small backyard pine tree farm and gifted trees to family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Aug. 26, from 5-7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at the National Cemetery in Bourne.
