Marlborough – George R. Marsan, 97, died Tuesday Feb. 15, 2011, at Coleman House in Northborough. He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Desjardin) Marsan, who died in 1981.
Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late George and Marie (Vigeant) Marsan. He retired in 1976 from GE/ Telechron, where he had been employed as a production planner and manager in both Ashland and Worcester.
As a member of the former St. Mary's Church, Mr. Marsan was actively involved in parish programs, was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and participated in the Boy Scouts in past years. He enjoyed concerts, summer theater and travel. For his own pleasure, he walked whenever possible, often joining with an organized walking club for a special benefit.
He is survived by his son, Robert G. Marsan and his wife, Wendy, of Gardner; his daughters, Phyllis Graham and her husband, John, and Germaine Duclos and her husband, Robert, all of Marlborough; his brother, Arthur Marsan of Northborough; his grandchildren, Patty Thiers, John Graham Jr., Lisa Mortarelli, Michael Graham, Anne-Renee Fitzgerald, Nicole Bazinet, Alain Duclos and Laura Danner; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jeannette Gaudette, Adrienne Walcott and Marie Blanche Marsan.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 19 at St. Bernadette Church in Northborough, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery of Marlborough.
