Northborough – Elizabeth A. (McCarthy) Dagle, 85, died Monday Aug. 15, 2011, at UMass Memorial Healthcare (University Campus) Worcester after a short illness. She was the cherished wife of Raymond Dagle, who passed away in 2008.
She leaves behind her son, William J. Dagle and his wife Valerie of Northborough; two daughters, Susan Clougherty, wife of the late Kevin Clougherty of Clinton, and Betty Brown and her husband Francis of Roslindale; daughter-in-law, Patricia Dagle of North Grafton; seven grandchildren, Kerry Welcome, Mark, Meghan, Erin, Patrick, Brendan and Colleen Dagle; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jack Dagle, who died in 2004; her sister, Shirley Govoni; and two brothers, Robert and Richard McCarthy.
Born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late D. Francis and Catherine (Horton) McCarthy, she was a graduate of Commerce High School in 1944. She worked in the Northborough public school system for many years.
Calling hours will be held Thursday Aug. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Her funeral Mass will be held Friday Aug.19, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough.
