Robert K. Ranck, 81Shrewsbury – Robert K. Ranck, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 at the Shrewsbury Nursing & Rehab Center following an illness. His wife, Mary K. (Kalinowski) Ranck, died in 2008.

He leaves his two sisters-in-law, Helen M. Walker of Auburn and Ruth E. Niccolls of Shrewsbury, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Born in Philadelphia, the son of the late David W. Ranck Jr. and Marjorie L. (King) Ranck, he lived many years in California before returning to the East Coast.

Mr. Ranck served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army during World War II and the Korean War. He worked for several years at the movie studios in Burbank, and then worked as an instructor for the State University of New York prior to his retirement. He loved to travel with his wife.

A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Saint Joseph's Church in Auburn. Burial with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m., in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. There are no visiting hours.
