First Parish of Sudbury hosts “Who Was Jesus” course

27

Sudbury – With the discovery of the Nag Hammadi library and Dead Sea Scrolls, recent decades have been a burst of fresh scholarship into the life and teachings of a man whose brief existence changed the course of history, but whose actual words and deeds have been obscured by centuries of dogma and mythologizing.

Starting Sunday, Oct. 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Reverend Gary Kowalski will lead an introductory course designed to reveal this lost message of Jesus. Participants will read and discuss Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time by Marcus Borg, who was an active member of the Jesus Seminar and has been chair of the historical Jesus section of the society for Biblical Literature.

The group, which will meet for three weeks in the Brackett Room of First Parish of Sudbury, is free and open to the public, as well as to all members and friends of the Parish. For more information, contact Rev. Kowalski at [email protected]. First Parish of Sudbury is located at 327 Concord Rd., across from Sudbury Town Hall.
