Corridor Nine, DoubleTree Hotel to hold food driveWestborough- The Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce, along with the DoubleTree Hotel, HYPE9, and local schools and businesses, are joining forces once again to collect food for those in need. The food drive, which will run until Dec. 16, will benefit the local food pantries of the Corridor Nine's five core towns of Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, Shrewsbury and Grafton.

Last year the organization's goal was to raise 7,000 food items. They beat that with a collection of 8,000 items. This year's goal is to collect 9,000 items.

Donations to the food drive can be dropped off at the Corridor Nine Chamber office, 30 Lyman Street, Westborough and the DoubleTree Hotel, 5400 Computer Drive, Westborough. For anyone who would like to donate a large amount of food items, the DoubleTree Hotel will pick them up from you.

Corridor Nine has contacted the local food pantries for an inventory of their needs. Personal care products cannot be purchased with food stamps but are needed by those who are struggling with hunger and survival in general.

Items requested include – meals in a can (beef stew, chili, corned beef hash, sloppy joes, Manwich, etc.), soups (including clam chowder), dry pasta (spaghetti, shells etc.), tuna fish, canned chicken, jelly, canned fruit, microwave popcorn, rice, instant potatoes, 24 oz. catsup, 30 oz. mayo, 8 oz. salad dressing, boxed jello, granola bars, kids” snacks, baking goods mixes (examples include brownies, pancakes, cakes, breads, muffin mix, etc.), 8 oz. salad dressing, toilet paper, tissues, toothpaste, paper towels, bars of soap, shampoo and deodorant.
