Northborough – Neale F. Laurence, P.E., 74, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 in Berlin after a seven-month battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his beloved fiancé of 11 years, Virginia A. (Mungeam) Wheeler of Berlin; one daughter, Alicia Laurence of Florida; and one brother, David Laurence of Meriden, Conn.
Mr. Laurence was born and raised in Meriden, Conn., the son of the late Michael J. and Anne (Doering) Laurence, and lived there until 1964. He graduated from the University of Hartford in 1960 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. His employment included IBM, Fletcher- Thompson, and he was a self-employed electrical/mechanical engineer for N.F. Laurence Associates in Northborough from the early 1970s until his recent retirement.
He was a collector of many hobbies. He enjoyed driving Cadillacs and traveling around the U.S. He was best known for driving to job sites in one of his many Cadillacs.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. His funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m., in Hays Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Cemetery in Berlin.
