Marlborough – Josephine Mary Bruno, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 after a long period of failing health.
Born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Daniel & Carmela (Valianti) Bruno, she attended Marlborough High School, class of 1947, and Anna Maria College, class of 1951. Before moving to California in 1954, where she taught elementary school in Whittier for 40 years, she taught for several years at the Hildreth School in Marlborough. She returned to Marlborough in 2007.
She is survived by a sister, Adeline Alfuso of Sacramento; two brothers, Michael Bruno of Fullerton Calif. and Donald Bruno of Marlborough; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mary Concetta Sousa, and five brothers, Damiano, Pasquale, Frank, Robert and John.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., in St. Matthias Church, Hemenway Street in Marlborough. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. The William R. Short and Son Funeral Home of Marlborough is assisting with arrangements.
