Shrewsbury – An Upton teen, John Street, 18, has been identified as the young man killed in an accident last night at the Ski Ward venue.
According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, whose office is investigating the accident along with State and Shrewsbury police, Street was attending a practice at Ski Ward with his teammates from Nipmuc Regional High School. Preliminary reports have indicated that he may have had a seizure while riding up the hill on the ski lift. Street fell approximately 30 feet and landed face down on the ground.
After paramedics treated him on the scene he was transported to UMass Medical Center- University Campus in Worcester where he was pronounced dead at 7:24 p.m.
According to Early, the office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
