John J. Kovacs, 73Hudson – John J. Kovacs, 73, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his residence. He leaves his children, John P. Kovacs and his wife Mary of Hudson, Christina Chaviano and her husband Pedro of Miami, and Debbie Kovacs of Sudbury.

Born in Hungary, son of the late Joseph and Emma (Horvath) Kovacs, he was a self-employed plumber for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Plumber's Union, Local 12 of Boston. He resided in Waltham for a short time after moving from Hungary and had resided in Hudson the past 45 years. He was an avid chess player and member of the Hudson Senior Center.

Besides his children, he is survived by his two sisters, Agota Seaver and Cecilia McFarland, both of Florida; his brother, Joseph Kovacs of Cape Cod and Florida; his eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may attend calling hours Friday, March 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, followed by a celebration of life at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mr. Kovacs” memory may be made to the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson, MA 01749.
