Westborough- Florence Medical Uniforms has opened in the Westborough Shopping Center to serve medical professionals and medical office staff throughout the MetroWest area.

The large store offers a wide range of styles, colors and sizes in scrubs and lab coats, along with footwear, hosiery and socks, and professional medical accessories.

The Westborough location opened in November and fills a gap, said store Manager Jackie Taylor. She noted there are few, if any, other uniform stores between Worcester and Boston, and none as large as this store, whose owners have been in the uniform business for years, as has Taylor.

“Our customers are anyone in the medical profession, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, dental office employees, veterinary technicians, students,” she said. “We do see some non-professional customers. Most of them are people who are on their feet all day and are looking for comfortable shoes.”

Florence Medical Uniforms carries a rainbow of solid colors in tops and pants, and prints from sophisticated to whimsical. There are Sesame Street and Disney characters tops for professionals working with children and animal motifs for those in veterinary offices. Holiday and seasonal prints are also available.

“Our prices are very competitive,” she noted. “We always have sale racks priced at $10, $12, $14 and $16.

“Our selection cannot be beat. Both men’s and women’s uniforms and lab coats are available, and sizes include XXS up to 5XL, as well as talls and a huge selection of petites,” she said.

“We carry all major brands, including Cherokee, Grey’s Anatomy, Koi, Dickies, and Carhartt for men.”? The shoe section features a wide range of styles from such companies as Dansko, Sanita, Klogs, Landau and Cherokee.

“We also have a large selection of scrubs styles and sizes in white,” Taylor said, since some local health care facilities require their employees to wear white. “Many uniform stores carry very little white these days.”

Among the professional medical accessories displayed in the center of the store are Littmann stethoscopes, bandage scissors, blood pressure cuffs, pens and flashlights.

Taylor works with outside accounts such as medical and dental offices, nursing homes and schools which would like to customize their staff’s look.

“We can bring in samples and catalogs, and set up a fitting session on site for employees to try on and select their uniforms. And we offer embroidery services to customize an office’s or school’s look,” she noted.

“We specialize in customer service. Our staff is friendly and experienced, and we cater to the needs of the customer,” Taylor said. “We also provide special order service for those who may need something we do not have in stock.”

Customers can currently visit the company on Facebook. Florence Medical Uniforms is working on a website and has plans to set up an online store within the next three months, Taylor said.

Florence Medical Uniforms is located at 18 Lyman St. at the intersection with Route 9, in the Westborough Shopping Center next to Supercuts. The store is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed Sunday.
