Hudson: River's Edge Community Band spring session begins

PrintHudson – ?The River's Edge Community Band, under the direction of David Wayne Bailey, is pleased to announce the beginning of its spring session, culminating in a June 18 performance at the beautiful Wood Park Music Shell in Hudson. The concert with feature the River's Edge Community band together with the River's Edge Chorale and Youth Chorus. The session for new members will begin Thursday, April 17.

The band welcomes players of all wind, brass and percussion instruments to join its forces. Particularly welcome at this time are alto saxophones, section clarinets and tubas. There are no auditions and the band seeks to challenge and promote musical growth and enjoyment through rehearsals and performances. Those musicians who need to “dust off” the old horn are encouraged to do so!? Students from 8th grade and up are welcome provided they are comfortable with rehearsing music of grade 5 and 6 levels. Band Music in rehearsal will include a 75th Anniversary tribute to The Wizard of Oz, a salute to the United States Armed Services, Stars and Stripes Forever and the 1812 Overture for Band, Choruses and “special guests.”

Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m., in the band room of Hudson High School, 69 Brigham St., and registration forms and fees can be found on the River's Edge Arts Alliance website at www.upwitharts.org.
