Obit Ed CenikNorthborough – Edward John Cenik, 84, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, April 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He would have been 85 on May 10.

Edward was born and raised in Worcester, one or four children to John and Mary (Varnagaris) Cenik. He lived in Northborough for the past 58 years.

He leaves behind his fiancé of 20 years, Sharon Morkert; his children, Ronald Cenik and his wife Gail of Lowell and Lynne Fenuccio and her husband John of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Stephen and Julie Cenik, John Edward, Lauren and Matthew Fenuccio; one great-granddaughter, Kristina Otero; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Cenik, and his siblings, Virginia, Shirley, and Alfred.

He graduated from Classical High School in Worcester and earned his bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Northeastern University. He went on to receive a Master of Science from UMass – Amherst. His professional career began with General Motors in Framingham during the 1950s.

Edward continued employment as a foreman at Sylvania in the 1960s and eventually retired from Raytheon Company in 1992 after a successful career. He then worked part time at Long Cadillac in Framingham.

For many years, he enjoyed his summer home on Cape Cod. He loved trips to Marco Island, Fla. and Mohegan Sun; enjoyed reading newspapers; and was a big Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR racing fan. He also cherished his two cats, Hannah and Savannah.

Edward was a member of St. Bernadette Parish.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 22, from 4 – 7 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. The funeral Mass will celebrated Wednesday, April 23, at 10 a.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.

The family would like to thank the staff of Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Northborough and Salmon VNA and Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Edward.
