Marlborough – The rain held off as nearly 80 golfers took to the tees for the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) 41st Annual Premier Golf Open, held June 29 at the Marlborough Country Club.
Local officials and business leaders were joined by special guest, Guy Larose of the Boston Bruins Alumni. Throughout his career, Larose played professional hockey for teams in both the American Hockey League and National Hockey League. This was not his first time to Marlborough as a Bruins alumnus. In March he and his teammates played in a charity game at the New England Sports Center against the West Point Hockey Alumni All Stars in a fundraiser to benefit the Fisher House, which provides accommodations, at no cost, for family members of hospitalized veterans and military members.
Former Bruins player Rick Middleton was slated to represent the alumni at the MRCC event on the original date, June 8, which was rained out.
“Rick was unable to make the [June 29] date, so Guy stepped in and graciously agreed to come,” Susanne Morreale-Leeber, the chamber’s president and CEO said. “We are really excited to have him here today.”
After the tournament, a dinner and networking session was held at the club. Sponsors for the event included Boston Scientific, Hologic, Quest Technologies, St. Mary’s Credit Union, Boyd Coatings Research Co., Boston Biomedical, DTZ, Doctors Express, Marlboro Nissan, Dairy Queen, Golfrite LLC, and Minuteman Press.
