Grafton – The Grafton Police Alliance recently announced that its annual “Beard” fundraiser to benefit the Grafton Unified Chapter of the Massachusetts Special Olympics was “once again, a resounding success.”

For a $100 fee, fundraiser participants grew beards starting Nov. 1 and continued through the end of December. On Dec. 28 the alliance presented a check in the amount of $2,656, to the Grafton Special Olympics chapter.

According to a press release from the alliance, there has been a longstanding partnership between the law enforcement community and Special Olympics.

“The men and women of the Grafton Police Department are proud to further this effort with this year’s fundraising even,” the release said. “Special thanks go to Chief Normand Crepeau Jr., for supporting our efforts and thanks to those employees who participated in raising funds for such a great organization.”

Participating employees were: Chief Normand Crepeau Jr., Lieutenant Wayne Tripp (retired), Sergeant Neil Minardi, Sergeant Mike Mazzola, Officer Bill Kuck, Officer Mike Rybak, Officer John Ropiak, Officer James Crosby, Officer Dan Wenc, Officer Liam O’Rourke, Officer James O’Brien, Officer Tom Michnniewicz, Officer Mark Alves, Officer Dave Sullivan, and Officer Jason Atchue.
