Shrewsbury – A prayer vigil to commemorate National Gun Violence Awareness Day was held in front of the First Congregational Church June 2. Participants of all ages wore orange clothing or face paint and lit candles to honor the lives of those affected by gun violence.

“We may feel helpless,” Rev. Lynne Dolan told those gathered, “but we are not helpless.”

The vigil was also organized by the Central Massachusetts Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
