Shrewsbury/Westborough – Held Aug. 15 at the Haven Country Club in Boylston, the second annual Hannah Kane Charity Classic golf tournament raised $51,000. The full day of activities began with a continental breakfast and concluded with a 19th-Hole Reception sponsored by Central One Federal Credit Union. There, state Rep. Hannah Kane, R-Shrewsbury, announced that the First-Place Gross Team Award was earned by a foursome of Central One staff members.

This year, 144 golfers and guests enjoyed dinner while additional funds were raised with raffles and a silent auction. The reception concluded with Kane presenting $17,000 each to representatives of three nonprofit organizations: St. Anne’s Human Services, Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, and the Westborough Food Pantry.

Kane also noted that she’s continuing the tradition of her predecessors when they served as state representative. Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito hosted a fundraising golf tournament for 10 years, followed by Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matt Beaton for three. This year’s charity classic marked the 15th annual golf fundraiser in the 11th Worcester District.
