obit-manuel-de-sousaHudson – Manuel De Sousa, 89, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. He was born in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, the son of Manuel and Maria (Rego) Sousa.

He leaves his loving wife of 66-1/2 years, Maria N. (Luz) Sousa; seven children, Jose Urbano Luz Sousa and his wife Maria Joao of Terceira, Azores, Mindy Loura and her husband Tony of Hudson, Daniel L. Sousa of Hudson, Albertino L. Sousa and his wife Mary of Hudson, Lucia Camra and her husband JC of Hudson, Elvira M. Sousa of Hudson, and Carlos M. Sousa and his wife Giselda of Hudson; his sister, Maria Machado of East Hartford, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, Christine, Marco, Sonya, Sarah, Angie, Christopher, Stacey, Alexandra, JC Jr., and Nicholas; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Manuel was an office janitor at Digital Corp in Maynard for many years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Church and the Hudson Portuguese Club and was dedicated to the Portuguese Holy Ghost. He was an avid Bruins fan, enjoyed playing cards, and was devoted to his loving family.

Calling hours for Manuel will be held Friday, Nov. 11, from 5-8 p.m., in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson.
