Ernest BonettiMarlborough – Ernest “Ernie” A. Bonetti, 80, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Ellen (Langelier) Bonetti, to whom he was married for 54 years.

He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Alphonse and Anna (Coppelletti) Bonetti, and lived here all of his life.

Ernie graduated from Marlborough High School in 1954 and entered the United States Air Force. He worked many years as a sales representative for Atlantic Business Forms in Hudson and Data Associates in Waltham, retiring in 2002.

Ernie was a member of the Italian American War Veterans Post in Marlborough, where he served as bar manager in the past, and the Polish American Veterans in Clinton.   He was a member of the Marlborough Fish and Game Association and the Hudson Rod and Gun Club in Hudson, enjoying fishing, skeet and target shooting. He also enjoyed photography, music, movies, and the summer cottage in Dennisport.

Ernie enjoyed socializing with people wherever he went. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Polagruto and her husband Stephen of North Grafton; sons Steven Bonetti and his wife June of Shrewsbury and Michael Bonetti and his wife Kerri of Marlborough; and grandchildren Nicholas, Sarah, Paige, Collin, Christopher, Alexis, Michael and Owen.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sudbury Pines Extended Care for their compassionate care during the past several months.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 5-8 p.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
