John H. GillManchester, N.H. – John H. Gill, 89, of Manchester, N.H., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 at home with his family at his bedside, following many years of diminishing health.

Born Sept. 2, 1928 in Hudson, he was a longtime Hudson resident. John served in the United States Army following the end of WWII in the Military Police. Following his military service, John earned his degree as a certified aviation mechanic.

He worked as a machinist for several years and spent most of his working years working for the USPS as a letter carrier in Hudson. After his retirement, he also worked for the Hudson school systems as a food service delivery agent.

John is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Therese C. (Richer) Gill of Manchester, also a Hudson native; his daughter, Dianne Buczynski and her husband Michael, with whom he lived at the time of his death in Manchester; and his grandchildren, Michael Buczynski Jr. of Hudson, N.H., Patrice Bosworth of Holland, Mich., Joel Gill of Center Ossippee, N.H., and Aubrey Hemler of Wells, Maine. He also has 10 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kaleb and Bailey Bosworth of Holland, Mich., Andrew, Alyssa and Zachary Buczynski of Hudson, N.H., Molly and Bryn Gill of Ossippee, N.H., and Connor and Jackson Hemler of Wells, Maine. John also leaves behind two sisters in Hudson, Margaret (Gill) Murphy and Anne (Gill) Simoes, and their spouses. He also has many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased in life by a baby daughter, Patrice, in 1963; his son, Kevin M. Gill, in January 2017; and two brothers, Joseph and Robert.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Jan. 5, from 1-4 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, immediately followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. There will be a private interment in Baldwinsville at a later date.
